To Begin Again:
The Journey Toward Comfort, Strength, and Faith in Difficult Times
by Naomi Levy

This is an inspirational, yet practical book that deals with some of the most important issues we face as human beings. It provides insight and understanding about times of great tragedy, when "nothing makes sense." It tells how to survive, even thrive, after we have been overwhelmed by pain, loss, or life itself. It suggests that when we face loss, it's less useful to ask "Why did this happen?" than to ask "How do I go on?" It doesn't try to provide the answers, but it helps us find our own answers and our own strength to emerge from our sorrow.

The author is a woman, a wife, a mother, and a rabbi - but as with many of the books I recommend, she also speaks from her own first-hand experience in struggling to deal with the fact that her father was murdered when she was fifteen years old. Her wisdom and tenderness can be helpful for anyone in healing from great loss.
